THE BIGGER PICTURE
Baresi joined the Serie A giants' youth system in 1972 before making his senior professional debut for the club in 1977. He represented the Rossoneri for the next 20 years before retiring from football in 1997. The defender made 719 official appearances for the Italian side and won several major trophies including six Serie A titles and three European Cups.
