  Mbappe was in the stands for the clash with Athletic due to his suspension and, when he was shown on the big screen, fans booed the France international. Widespread whistles could be heard as his face appeared on the big screen, days after Madrid were thrashed by Arsenal in the Champions League quarter-final.

  Mbappe was sent off against Alaves and, as a result, was not available for selection against Athletic. He has scored 22 La Liga goals this season but the whistles may stem from his anonymous performance against Arsenal; he failed to score and his inability to impact the tie over two legs was central to Madrid's struggles.
